Hallo daar (Hello there)…So I just came back from a very long weekend in Amsterdam and can I say I had an amazing time!
The weather was like 26-28 degrees! For all my people in the EU, this is like soo HOT! The sky was blue, the sun was out and yaaasss she was rockin’ them shades! LOOL! Travelled with EasyJet from London Luton Airport straight to Amsterdam Airport Schipol. For those that are frightened of traveling, this has got to be one of the shortest destinations I have ever been, literally. It was like 45 minutes!
For those wondering how expensive it is, it was wasn’t too bad. I carried about 170euros with me and that lasted me from Friday-Monday. The food and lifestyle I would have to say is kind of similar to the UK.
Anyways…. Moving right on! Here are my top 5 things I think you should do…
1. Rent a bike!
For all my bike lovers out there! Nothing more beautiful than that I think. I loved it… We hired a bike and I think it cost something like 10euros. We cycled in the woods and around the city. That was really really good.
2. Canal tour
Amsterdam is a city tied to the water, SERIOUSLY! The canals of Amsterdam are incredibly beautiful, and there’s nothing like seeing the city from a boat. Skip the big canal boat tours you see around the city — they’re overpriced. Moreover, you can also take the open-air Canal Hopper Small Boat. The boats are small, the tours more intimate, and your driver will give you a good personalised tour. The tours last about an hour.
3. The Red District
The Red Light District manages to balance sex and seediness with being a major tourist attraction. During the day, it’s a quiet place. If it wasn’t for the red lights and sex signs everywhere, it would look like any other part of the city. But, at night, the area becomes awash with drunk, gawking tourists moving slowly down the street as they stare at the girls in the window while going from bar to bar and coffeeshop to coffeeshop. It’s a place to see and experience for a very brief time.
4. I AMSTERDAM SIGNThere is no way you can go to Amsterdam and not visit this place! OMG… Come on, its free! However, it tends to get very busy and there are a lot of people everywhere! It is so hard to get an image with you and just the sign alone. Climbing the sign is very difficult, especially if you hate climbing but the experience is worth it and I would suggest you give it a try!
5. Tulips Flower/ Food Market
This was so pretty! The flowers were amazing and loved the look of them. You can just walk around and see all the different stuff they have and if you are a sucker for flowers or like growing them then this is the perfect place to get them. I absolutely loved the colours and would recommend anyone to go and have a look. Oh and don’t forget the CHEESE! Yummy…
Well thats my top 5 things I enjoyed the most! Let me know what you guys think and if you have been there let me know where you have been!
