Ever felt yourself wondering Lord why me? Do you feel like your life is more like leftovers? I’m learning that it’s through those circumstances that God reveals to us the depths of our strength. The bible says, “his STRENGTH is made perfect in our weakness’. There are times when God puts certain situations in our lives that force us to learn to lean and depend on Him.
I was reading Ruth 2 vs 18 before bed and watched a sermon by Sarah Jakes Roberts. Her preaching was about the story of Ruth and Naomi, how Naomi was married to a man named Moab whom she had 2 sons with. Her husband passed away and shortly after him, her 2 sons passed. I think she was thinking Lord why me?! She had nothing else left, she had nothing but…LEFTOVERS. The only people she had left was her two daughters-in-law whom she even asked them to go back to their fathers houses. Orpah listened to Naomi and went her way however Ruth told Naomi that she will not go, and that
‘wherever you go, I will go. And wherever you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people. And your God, my God… Ruth 1 vs 17
Watching Sarah Jakes sermon, it really got me thinking that everyone on this earth, even christians themselves will go through things. The bible says in Psalms 23 vs 4 ‘though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for You are with me.’ Meaning that as christians trials and tribulations will come your way but your Lord your God is with you, he will never leave you neither will he forsake you. So even them times when you feel like everything that surrounds you has been taken away and you feel like your nothing but leftovers, I encourage you today to keep going, never fear and let God take over. Philippians 1 vs 6 says ‘ … what I start I complete’ he never leaves his work half done. So always remember his plans are always of good and not of harm. You got to keep the faith, as hard as your situation maybe, find comfort in trusting God because he makes everything work together for your good.
When you read the parables in the bible, this is just a clear example that God uses the foolish things to confined the wise. God wants to work with people who don’t have it all, his not really interested in the ones that have it all, that don’t need Him. When your down to leftovers, this is when he does his work, he creates joy out of brokenness… He creates a way were there is no way.
So tell yourself, if growth means leftover, then here I am because your leftovers are only the beginning for a start over.
I really enjoyed Sarah’s preaching, for those who haven’t yet watched it please do and I pray it brings comfort to your life as much as it has done to me.
